I am broadly interested in understanding the functional reorganization of the human visual cortex as a function of development (and experience) and how high-level mechanisms contribute to functional changes; how attention mechanisms influence information selection and how selection is proceduralized as a function of development. Naturally occurring conditions like amblyopia, dyslexia particularly interest me, not only because they lend as interesting models to explore mechanisms of plasticity and the role of attention, but the implications of understanding functional plasticity and the role of attentional mechanisms can go far reaching beyond the interests of basic science – in the clinical treatment of these conditions.
